Setting Realistic Expectations
- Step 1:
Apply - create an account on governmentjobs.com and apply for position(s) of interest. Click here if you need support creating a profile.
- Step 2:
Application review - applications are reviewed to ensure minimum qualifications are met.
- Step 3:
Rating Process - information on the type of rating process can be found in the job announcement directly under the minimum qualification section
- Step 4:
Eligible list - Applicants passing the rating process are placed on an eligible list
- Step 5:
Referred List:
Open Recruitment (Internal & External Applicants) - The top 20 names and anyone tied with the 20th are referred for interview consideration.
Promotional Recruitment (Internal Only) - The top 3 names and anyone tied with the 3rd are referred for interview consideration.
- Step 6:
Interview process - the hiring authority will reach out by phone and/or email to those selected for interview.
- Step 7:
Pre-employment:
- Background
- Drug Test
- Physical (if required for position)
- Step 8:
You're hired!
